)  Give generously and generous gifts will be given back to you, shaken down to make room for more. Abundant gifts will pour out upon you with such an overflowing measure that it will run over the top! Your measurement of generosity becomes the measurement of your return.

4 Ways We Must Look at Giving


1. Calling vs. compensation.

• KEY --- We don’t just need money to live on…we need something to live for

• However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me. - (Acts 20:24)


2. God dependent vs. independent.

Give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread. Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the Lord?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God. (Proverbs 30:8-9)

• KEY --- I will not trust in riches but I will trust in Him who richly provides.


3. Stewardship vs. ownership.

Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. (Matthew 6:19-20)

• Key --- You do not own it all but you are to manage what God has blessed you with.

4. Generosity vs. misery.

• “It is more blessed to give than to receive.” (Acts 20:35)

• KEY --- The value of my life isn’t determined by how much I accumulate but by how much of my life I give away.


Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share. In this way they will lay up treasure for themselves as a firm foundation for the coming age, so that they may take hold of the life that is truly life. (1 Timothy 6:18-19)
